Understanding Blackjack Odds : Arts & Entertainment

You should take some time out to learn about odds and the house edge when you look at playing a casino game. With some games like roulette and baccarat this is very simple to do because the odds don?t change, they are built into the layout of the game.

However with a game like blackjack it is much more difficult because the odds are changing with each hand. The reason for this is because the dealer?s cards and your cards are always changing, so the odds can never remain constant.

Also, the odds depend on what sort of blackjack strategy that you use. If you?re using what?s known as basic or perfect strategy the house edge can be less than 1%. This is because you are told whether to hit or stand by perfect strategy for every card combination, so the instructions that you are following are the best ones.

If you?ve never heard of perfect strategy before you don?t need to worry about having to pay some maths guru for it or anything like that. You will find it on lots of blackjack sites completely free and you can find them very easily.

If you?re one for looking at the odds of a game in detail, there are loads of different blackjack odds that you can consume yourself over but there are three main ones. The first is the odds of you, the player, busting for each different card combination.

The second is the odds of the dealer busting for each card combination which is different to player odds due to the different dealer rules. Finally, there?s the two card combination odds such as the chance of getting a card total of 2-16, 17-20 or 21 with your first two cards.

This is vital because unless the dealer also has 21, 21 is a win and no decision will be 17-20. This means that unless you?re feeling particularly lucky you will choose to stand in this position. 2-16 is classed as a decision hand because you will more than likely hit on them or double down.
