It?s not only Indonesia?s tourism board that can work to promote the country. These days almost anyone can pitch in. Nevertheless, we were a little surprised to see an auto finance company doing its part for tourism. This weekend local firm Adira Dinamika Multi Finance launched a tourism-related site features an assortment of contests and prizes.
As one of the largest financing companies in the nation, it is interesting to see Adira working with the Indonesian Ministry of Culture and Tourism in creating a website called Adira Faces of Indonesia.
A tourism website from a finance company? We must admit, that?s rather unusual. Indonesia already has an official travel website,?but hey, the more sites the merrier.
The AdiraFOI website will run the Best 100 Faces Of Indonesia Writing and Photo Contest, a writing competition focusing on Indonesian places of interest. It is open to the public from July through December 2011. At the end of that period a panel of judges will select 100 winners who created the best writing and photos, and they each will receive prizes worth IDR 2million (US$235). Those winners will also be entered into the next stage, which so far remains a secret.
There?s quite an impressive list of sponsors for the endeavor, including the national airline Garuda Indonesia, Bank Danamon, Lenovo, and the Ministry of Tourism. We?ve seen before that promoting tourism can be highly effective on the Internet, as people become more inclined to get information online. We?ve previously seen efforts from the Malaysian government to promote its country through Facebook, as well as Indonesia?s own online tourism campaign earlier this year.
