SUPPORTERS of a relaunched sports centre in Burnley are looking to give youngsters a ticket to Olympic glory.
Bosses behind Placeshaper, the social enterprise which has reopened the Spirit of Sports Centre, have drawn up plans to revive the Ormerod Road venue.
Midnight football leagues and a new sporting initiative are taking more young people off the streets in central Burnley.
Spirit of Sport is home to the Sportivate programme - a six-week challenge where participants are entered into a draw for tickets to this year?s London games.
Anwar Afrasiab, partnership manager, said tennis, boxing and Bollywood dance sessions are also proving popular at the ?4.2million centre.
He added: ??Our midnight football league is going from strength to strength and keeps young people off the streets on the cold, dark winter nights and gives them a chance to meet new friends and get active.?
Under Sportivate young people with a disability and those from ethnic and minority communities are particularly targeted.
Those who continue with a sporting pastime, for three months after completing the course, are eligible for the Olympic draw.
The centre was closed at the end of March, due to borough council cutbacks, and only recently reopened under the social enterprise?s guidance.
Proposals are also being drawn up for the venue to host children?s parties, holiday clubs and activities groups.
Students from Blessed Trinity College, on the same campus, still use the sporting facilities during the daytime.
