It's Labor Day! Dip Dip Horray! #DipDipHorray #CBias

Labor Day weekend is a pretty big deal in our house. ?It?s really the end of summer for us; the time when the pools close, school is offically back in full swing and we?re headed out of long summer days and into shorter fall evenings. ?So, we always try to do something to make it special. ?And for us, that can be anything as long as we?re all together. ? So, as we sat down to make our list this year, we began to think about what would make a special evening that would bring us all together to bid farewell to the summer but also celebrate all of the amazing things that fall had to offer.

After brainstorming for a little while, J-Man came up with a fabulous idea; a family game night filled with laughter, food, fun and family! ?And since the hubs and I agreed that it was a wonderful plan, we decided to do a little preparation and make it extra special! ?So, we headed off to Walmart in search of some great treats to eat and games that would inspire the whole family to giggle, bond and have an all around good time.

Having all boys in my house, of course food was the center point for the whole event! ?My main goal was to find meal solutions that the whole family could enjoy and sometimes that can be a little tricky with MillerBug (yes, he?s a picky 2 year old). ?But one of his absolutely favorite things right now is chicken nuggets and fries with what we call ?dip-dip? (i.e. ketchup). ?He can eat endless amounts of it and will sit there and dip his food over and over because he just thinks it is so much fun! ?With this in mind, I thought what better items to incorporate for this fun picnic that the exact ones that both my boys are so crazy about! ?So, we picked up some Tyson Chicken Nuggets, Ore Ida fries and of course our staple ?dip-dip?, Heinz ketchup!

After ensuring that we had the perfect meal picked out for our Labor Day picnic, we headed off to find the games. ?After all, family game night wouldn?t be much fun without a totally awesome game, right? ?And since we are big board game fans, we knew we had to find one that was just right for the whole family (minus MillerBug of course because a gameboard plus a 2 year old never ends well!). ?After perusing the entire game selection, J-Man kept coming back to a new twist on an old classic. ?You see, we?ve been Monopoly fans for quite some time and ever since he saw the new Monopoly Millionaire, he has been wanting to have a Hasbro game night. ?He even walks around the house singing ?It?s all about the money, money? from one of the commercials. ?So, as soon as he zeroed in on that game, I knew any objections would fall on deaf ears. ?We were going to be having a millionaire night with Monopoly!

With our game and meal choices firmly made and the rest of our weekly shopping list complete, the excitement was at a fever pitch. ?So we headed for the register to check out so that we could get home and get the party started!

Once we arrived home, all that was left to do was put together this super fun night and thanks to the great food we had chosen, minimal preparation was required! ?Unfortunately, the weather did not choose to cooperate so we had to move the picnic indoors to avoid mushy after-rain grass but with the right festive fall tablecloth and a little ambiance created with fun colors, we didn?t miss a beat! ?After all, Old Man Weather can?t ruin family game night in this house and he even let the sun come out right in time for dinner just for us!

So, while I cooked the Tyson chicken nuggets and fries, J-Man set up Monopoly Millionaire and we were ready to go! ?The food turned out perfect and was every boy?s dream meal! ?Both the boys ?dip-dipped? their food in the Heinz ketchup and had a ball with it.

Once seconds had been served and bellies were full, it was time for games! ?Monopoly Millionaire was so much fun and was a great twist on the classic that we have come to know and love! ?By adding bigger demonations and making the stakes even higher, it was a great challenge for us and our very competitive family had a blast ? with a little junk talking thrown in of course!

At the end of the night we were all full, content and worn out from laughing and spending time together! ?It was the perfect way to celebrate Labor Day weekend and spend some time as a family! ?And our inside joke from the event was that when anybody did something really good in the game, we would all say ?Dip Dip Horray!? and then collapse in giggles. ?Yes, it truly was a memorable night!
