First, take time to develop a goals list. Writing them with paper and pen and keeping the list somewhere nearby is always best but you can also type them up on the computer. This way, when you feel your focus start to wander, you can pull out the list and look at it. Daydreaming and other off task distractions can be curbed with this simple list of goals. You taking the time to write out your goals will help you feel as though they are more concrete than a word document that can easily be erased at will. The size of your goals is completely up to you as long as they are attainable. Take time out to write them down. One simple way to make things easier for yourself is to break down large projects into smaller, more manageable ones. When you do this, large projects are not so intimidating, as you can work at them in stages. It?s often more enjoyable to work this way too, as you can focus on different aspects of the project at different times. The larger and more unwieldy a job is, the longer you are likely to put off starting it. People put off these large tasks because they don?t feel up to the challenge of facing them. By breaking it down into small pieces it becomes manageable and easier to do.
Don?t discount the importance of scheduled breaks. It will be easy to become burnt out fast if you try going full throttle all day without breaks. Your brain and your body need a little bit of time every day to just sit and relax. It is a proven fact that the brains best performance is done right after a break period. So make sure you make time for at least a few breaks during your day and then make sure you take them. Your brain and your body both need this ?me? time. Your emotional health depends on these breaks. Never believe anyone who says these breaks aren?t necessary. Time management skills can be acquired by anyone. It does take some effort, however. If you have ingrained habits that have to be changed, you?ll have to be persistent. You have to resist the temptation to fall back into old habits. It?s normal for everyone to have difficulties, so don?t worry if it isn?t always easy. Once you are comfortable with time management, you will be able to plan your day easily and stay ahead of schedule without a second thought.
